Message from the Instructor
The tea ceremony is not difficult at all. Why not start by enjoying delicious sweets and tea, taking a moment to relax? Whether you come alone or with friends from overseas, we will welcome you with heartfelt hospitality.
Features of This Course
- No preparation needed! Beginners welcome. All necessary tools are provided. Even if you know nothing about the etiquette, the instructor will teach you carefully, so please feel at ease.
- English guidance available. International visitors and friends can enjoy authentic tea ceremony with explanations in English.
- Convenient location near the station. Easily accessible from central Kobe's Sannomiya area, as well as the Shinkansen and airport. Perfect for refreshing yourself during sightseeing.
- No need to worry about kneeling—we offer “chair seating”! Those who find kneeling difficult or have mobility issues can comfortably participate using chairs (standing ceremony seating).

Experience Flow (approx. 45-60 minutes)
- Welcome & Greeting: We'll briefly explain basic etiquette, including how to enter the tea room.
- Savoring Seasonal Wagashi: First, enjoy seasonal sweets designed to delight the eyes as well as the palate.
- Observing the Tea Preparation: Watch the instructor prepare the tea with heartfelt care up close.
- Sipping the Tea: Taste freshly prepared matcha while learning the proper etiquette.
- Try Preparing Tea Yourself (Optional) Participants who wish may experience preparing tea themselves using a chasen whisk.
Important Notes (For Your Comfort)
- Clothing & Accessories: Please remove rings and watches to avoid damaging precious tea utensils. We recommend loose-fitting clothing that covers the knees.
- Socks: To protect the tatami mats, we kindly ask you to wear white socks. (Please inform us if you forget to bring them on the day.)
- For Those Uncomfortable with Seiza (Advance Request): For those who are uneasy about sitting seiza-style, we can provide chairs (standing reception seating). Due to preparation requirements, we would appreciate it if you could inform us of this need at the time of booking.
- Perfume To fully appreciate the delicate aroma of the tea, please refrain from wearing strong perfume.
- Cancellations As sweets are prepared in advance, please notify us of any changes or cancellations by 5:00 PM the day before.
